Solarworld Energy Solutions and Rays Power Infra have formed a 50:50 joint venture to develop a 2.4 GW annual solar cell manufacturing facility at Mohasa-Babai in Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh.
The proposed facility will manufacture n-type TOPCon solar cells based on G12R technology, marking a significant move toward expanding India’s domestic production of high-efficiency solar cells.
The joint venture partners have committed up to ₹520 crore towards the project, while the total estimated project cost is around ₹1,000 crore. The manufacturing facility will be developed across approximately 41.3 acres at the Mohasa-Babai industrial area.
Construction work on the project has already commenced, with commercial production targeted for June 2027.
With an annual capacity of 2.4 GW, the facility is expected to strengthen domestic solar cell manufacturing and support the growing demand for higher-efficiency photovoltaic technologies in India.
The partnership between Solarworld Energy and Rays Power also reflects the increasing focus among Indian renewable energy companies on expanding manufacturing capabilities deeper into the solar value chain.
