Elan Energy has secured a consultancy assignment from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) for the development of Compressed Biogas (CBG) plants with production capacities ranging from 5 tonnes per day (TPD) to 10 TPD across selected locations in Maharashtra and Haryana. The assignment will focus predominantly on plants using municipal solid waste (MSW) and paddy straw as feedstock.
The project is aimed at converting municipal waste and agricultural residues into renewable energy while supporting sustainable waste management and the development of a circular economy. By processing locally available waste streams, the planned CBG facilities can contribute to resource recovery and the production of cleaner gaseous fuel.
The BPCL tender covers four locations: Gadchiroli, Mira-Bhayandar and Kalyan Dombivli in Maharashtra, and Manesar in Haryana. Elan Energy’s scope includes consultancy and works-contract services associated with the development of these CBG projects.
The assignment further strengthens Elan Energy’s presence in India’s growing CBG and waste-to-energy sector. The company is expected to bring its technical capabilities and project expertise to support the development of commercially viable CBG infrastructure at the selected locations.
The initiative also aligns with India’s broader push towards alternative fuels, waste-to-energy solutions and improved utilisation of agricultural residues. Converting MSW and paddy straw into CBG can help address waste-management challenges while creating a renewable fuel source and supporting the country’s transition towards a more circular and low-carbon energy ecosystem.
For Elan Energy, the BPCL assignment marks another step in expanding its role in the compressed biogas sector and delivering renewable-energy solutions for large-scale public-sector projects.
