Coal India Limited (CIL) has floated an EPC tender for the development of a cumulative 80 MW/320 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) across four locations in Odisha. The tender also includes 15 years of comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M).
The BESS systems will be developed at Padampur, New Bolangir, Bhatli and Basta grid substations, with each location planned for 20 MW/80 MWh of storage capacity.
The selected EPC contractor will be responsible for turnkey design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, installation, testing and commissioning, along with civil works and associated evacuation infrastructure. This includes 33 kV switchyard evacuation bays and underground cable connections to the respective points of interconnection.
The projects are targeted for completion within 11 months from the later of the Letter of Award or handover of land by CIL/Mahanadi Coalfields. Bidders are required to submit an ₹50 lakh EMD. The last date for bid submission is October 9, 2026, with techno-commercial bids scheduled to open on October 10.
