Vedanta Aluminium is preparing for rising demand for specialised aluminium products as India expands its power transmission network to support the growing renewable energy capacity.
The company said the next phase of grid development will require application-specific aluminium grades offering different combinations of strength, conductivity and corrosion resistance for varied terrains and operating conditions.
Key products include:
- 6201 alloy for high-strength, low-sag applications, including river crossings and difficult terrain.
- AL59 alloy designed for corrosion resistance in coastal and industrial environments.
- 1350 and 1370 grades for high-conductivity applications such as conductors, transformer windings and substation busbars.
- Vedanta Aluminium has an installed aluminium capacity of around 2.4 million tonnes and is among the world’s largest producers of aluminium wire rods.
The development highlights the growing role of specialised aluminium in strengthening India’s transmission infrastructure and enabling the evacuation of renewable power from generation-rich regions.
