Covenergo and Delta Capacity have partnered to develop the AKKU One standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) in Lapinlahti, Finland.
The project has a capacity of 125 MW/300 MWh, with construction already underway and commissioning targeted for Q4 2027. The facility was acquired as a ready-to-build asset from Helios Nordic Energy.
Covenergo will serve as the majority owner, while Delta Capacity will handle offtake, construction and long-term asset management as EPCM contractor. Once operational, AKKU One will provide flexibility to Finland’s power system, supporting frequency regulation and balancing services.
Sungrow will supply the battery system under its existing 1 GWh framework agreement with Delta Capacity. Rejlers, NYAB, Ampner and GreenPowerMonitor will support technical, Balance of Plant, grid compliance, energy management and SCADA requirements.
The project will mark Delta Capacity’s second BESS project in Finland, strengthening its presence in the Nordic energy storage market.
