Chennai Port Authority Invites Bids for 2 MW Rooftop Solar Project
Chennai Port Authority has invited bids to develop a 2 MW grid-connected rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) project at its premises in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The project will be implemented under the Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) model, under which a selected developer will undertake the installation and long-term operation and maintenance of the solar plant.
The solar installation is planned across four Export-Import (EXIM) godowns, with an estimated project cost of ₹12 crore. The selected developer will be responsible for the design, engineering, supply, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of the facility over a 25-year period.
The initiative aims to increase renewable energy use in port operations, reduce dependence on grid electricity and help manage long-term power costs. The project also reflects the growing adoption of rooftop solar by public infrastructure organisations seeking more sustainable and cost-efficient energy solutions.
According to the tender notice, the bid submission deadline is November 6, 2026, and technical bids are scheduled to open on November 7, 2026.
