Websol Upgrades 600 MW PERC Line to TOPCon, Taking Cell Capacity to 1.35 GW

Websol Energy System Limited is upgrading its 600 MW PERC solar cell manufacturing line to TOPCon technology, marking a significant step in its strategy to expand high-efficiency solar cell production in India.

The upgrade is expected to increase Websol’s total solar cell manufacturing capacity to 1.35 GW. The company is targeting cell efficiencies of more than 25% following the technology transition.

The brownfield upgrade involves an investment of approximately ₹270 crore and is targeted for completion by March 2027. Websol’s manufacturing facility is located at Falta SEZ, West Bengal.

The transition comes as India’s solar manufacturing sector increasingly shifts toward n-type TOPCon technology, which offers higher efficiency and improved performance compared with conventional PERC cells. Upgrading existing manufacturing infrastructure also enables manufacturers to adopt advanced technologies while leveraging established facilities.
