The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has awarded 1,500 MW of Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) capacity to three developers at tariffs ranging from ₹5.99/kWh to ₹6/kWh.
The auction will provide 6,000 MWh of assured peak renewable power supply, structured around four hours of peak supply from ISTS-connected renewable energy projects.
Auction Winners
- Waaree Forever Energies: 700 MW at ₹5.99/kWh, equivalent to 2,800 MWh of assured supply.
- NTPC Renewable Energy: 500 MW at ₹6/kWh, equivalent to 2,000 MWh.
- ACME Solar Holdings: 300 MW at ₹6/kWh, equivalent to 1,200 MWh.
Together, the three developers account for the full 1,500 MW / 6,000 MWh tender capacity.
The FDRE model is designed to move beyond conventional renewable generation by combining renewable power with energy-storage capabilities to deliver firm and dispatchable clean electricity during peak-demand periods. The latest auction highlights India’s growing focus on reliable renewable power and the increasing role of energy storage in supporting grid flexibility.
