Fluke Corporation has launched the FEV500, an all-in-one testing solution designed specifically for fast DC Level 3 electric vehicle charging stations. The new device is aimed at improving the safety, reliability, performance and interoperability of high-powered EV charging infrastructure as charging networks expand.
The FEV500 functions as a virtual electric vehicle, allowing technicians to conduct comprehensive charger testing without requiring an actual EV. The solution enables on-site validation and troubleshooting while helping operators identify potential performance and communication issues before they lead to costly downtime.
The testing device combines multiple functions into a single portable platform, reducing the need for separate instruments such as digital multimeters, insulation testers and oscilloscopes. It supports testing of EV charging communication protocols including ISO 15118 and DIN SPEC 70121 and provides guided workflows with clear PASS/FAIL results.
The FEV500 can simulate EV charging and communication scenarios through a single CCS connection. Its automated testing interface is designed to reduce manual data entry, while the device can be used for commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, compliance checks and performance assessments.
Fluke has also designed the FEV500 for field use, with a rugged wheeled chassis and removable battery. The portable configuration allows technicians to carry the tester between charging sites without relying on an external power source. The system can also integrate with Fluke TruTest software for automated data capture and reporting.
The launch comes as reliability and uptime become increasingly important for India’s rapidly expanding EV charging ecosystem. Fluke said the FEV500 is intended to help charging operators, fleet owners and service contractors improve charger validation, reduce troubleshooting time and maintain dependable charging infrastructure.
