Jindal Stainless Deploys Electric Trucks for the First Time, Strengthening Green Mobility
Jindal Stainless has deployed 10 dedicated electric trucks for finished-goods transportation for the first time, marking a significant step in its logistics decarbonisation and green mobility strategy. The electric trucks will operate between the company’s Jajpur plant in Odisha and Kharagpur and Kolkata in West Bengal.
The initiative is part of a broader transition towards lower-emission transportation. Jindal Stainless currently operates 80 LNG trucks, has started deploying CNG trucks for import cargo and operates 60 CNG buses for employee transportation at its Hisar and Jajpur facilities.
Together, the electric, LNG and CNG initiatives are expected to facilitate the movement of approximately 8,000–10,000 tonnes of cargo per month. Based on the company’s modelled dispatch volumes and travel distances, the green mobility programme is expected to reduce emissions by around 71 tonnes of CO₂ per month, equivalent to approximately a 26% reduction compared with diesel-based transportation.
Jindal Stainless plans to progressively expand electric and alternative-fuel vehicles across suitable logistics routes as part of its wider ESG and decarbonisation efforts.
