Powertrac Group has marked a significant milestone in India’s energy storage manufacturing sector with the groundbreaking of its planned 10 GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) manufacturing facility in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The proposed facility is designed to support capabilities across the battery manufacturing value chain, including cell-to-pack manufacturing and pack-to-container integration. The project is expected to strengthen Powertrac’s ability to cater to the growing demand for utility-scale energy storage solutions in India.
The company’s BESS manufacturing expansion is backed by a previously announced ₹600 crore investment, reflecting the increasing focus on building domestic energy storage manufacturing capabilities.
As India continues to rapidly expand its solar and wind power capacity, large-scale battery storage is becoming increasingly important for managing renewable energy intermittency, improving grid flexibility and supporting reliable power supply.
