Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has secured a major interstate transmission project in Andhra Pradesh with an estimated project cost of ₹8,386 crore, aimed at supporting upcoming green hydrogen and green ammonia projects in the Vizag region.

The project, titled “Transmission System for Proposed Green Hydrogen / Green Ammonia Projects in Vizag Area, Andhra Pradesh (Phase-I)”, was awarded through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process conducted by REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL).

The project-specific SPV, Vizag Power Transmission Limited, was handed over to Adani Energy Solutions on August 14, 2026, enabling the company to move forward with project implementation under the Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model.

Major Infrastructure

The transmission system will include two major high-voltage substations:

  • 4 × 1,500 MVA, 765/400 kV Pendurthi GIS Substation
  • 3 × 1,500 MVA, 765/400 kV Khammam-II Substation
  • Multiple 765 kV and 400 kV transmission lines
  • Around 1,582 circuit kilometres of transmission infrastructure
  • Approximately 10,500 MVA of transformation capacity

The network is designed to support around 4,500 MW of power demand, including requirements from green hydrogen and green ammonia projects as well as emerging digital infrastructure in the Vizag–Pendurthi region.
