Agastya Energy Industries Pvt Ltd has announced plans to invest approximately ₹7,800 crore to establish an integrated solar manufacturing facility at the Orvakal Industrial Area in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. The project is aimed at strengthening domestic manufacturing of upstream solar components and expanding the company’s presence across the solar photovoltaic (PV) value chain.

The proposed facility will include 12 GW of ingot manufacturing capacity and 12 GW of wafer manufacturing capacity. The expansion is expected to complement Agastya’s existing capabilities in solar cell and module manufacturing, creating a more integrated production ecosystem.

The Kurnool project is also expected to generate more than 3,500 employment opportunities, supporting industrial development and economic activity in the region. By establishing large-scale upstream manufacturing capabilities, Agastya Energy aims to contribute to the development of a more resilient and self-reliant solar PV supply chain in India.

The investment will cover the upstream stages of solar manufacturing, particularly ingots and wafers, which are critical components in the production of solar cells and modules. With the planned capacities, the company is positioning itself across multiple stages of the solar value chain, from ingot and wafer production to cells and modules.

The project aligns with India’s broader push to expand domestic solar manufacturing and reduce dependence on imported components. Increased domestic production of upstream solar materials could further support the country’s rapidly growing renewable energy sector and its long-term clean energy ambitions.

Key highlights include an estimated investment of ₹7,800 crore, 12 GW each of planned ingot and wafer manufacturing capacity, more than 3,500 expected jobs, and the project’s location at Orvakal Industrial Area in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.
