The Hinduja Group has announced plans to invest ₹2,500 crore in Tamil Nadu across renewable energy, electric mobility, automotive, battery infrastructure, financial services and digital mobility solutions.
As part of the investment commitment, the Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Tamil Nadu to support the state’s clean-energy and mobility transition.
A major component of the proposed investment will be the development of more than 200 MW of renewable energy projects through Hinduja Renewables Energy Private Limited (HREPL). The projects will combine solar, wind and battery technologies, with proposed development areas including Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Virudhunagar, Madurai and Coimbatore.
The Group is also expanding its presence in electric mobility. OHM Global Mobility Limited plans to operationalise electric buses for public transport in Tamil Nadu while expanding its broader mobility solutions ecosystem.
The investment will additionally explore opportunities in battery charging infrastructure, energy, automotive, financial services and digital mobility solutions, creating a broader clean-technology ecosystem in the state.
The latest commitment builds on Hinduja Group’s existing presence in Tamil Nadu and its earlier ₹7,500 crore MoU with the state government focused on the EV ecosystem, including battery manufacturing, BESS and charging infrastructure.
The investment further highlights Tamil Nadu’s growing importance as a hub for renewable energy, electric mobility and clean-energy manufacturing, while supporting India’s wider energy-transition goals.
