Oriana Power has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra to invest approximately ₹4,500 crore in an integrated green hydrogen project in the state. The agreement marks a significant step in the company’s expansion into green fuels and clean-energy infrastructure.

The proposed project will include production facilities for green hydrogen along with downstream derivatives such as green ammonia and green methanol. The development is expected to be implemented in a phased and time-bound manner under the applicable policies of the Maharashtra government.

Under the MoU, the Maharashtra government will support the project by facilitating necessary approvals, permissions, registrations and statutory clearances through relevant state authorities. The company will also be eligible to access applicable fiscal incentives in line with prevailing state policies and regulations.

The proposed investment comes as India continues to build its green hydrogen ecosystem under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, with green hydrogen and its derivatives expected to support the decarbonisation of industries such as chemicals, fertilisers, refining and heavy transport.

Oriana Power had earlier strengthened its position in the green ammonia market by signing a long-term Green Ammonia Purchase Agreement with SECI in March 2026 for the supply of 60,000 tonnes per annum, at a discovered price of ₹52.25 per kg.

The Maharashtra project could therefore expand Oriana Power’s presence beyond renewable power generation into the broader green molecules ecosystem, combining green hydrogen production with downstream products such as ammonia and methanol.

As India accelerates investments in clean fuels and industrial decarbonisation, integrated projects of this scale could play an important role in developing domestic green hydrogen infrastructure and strengthening Maharashtra’s position in India’s emerging clean-energy economy.
