Premier Energies has commissioned a 7 GW N-type TOPCon G12R solar cell manufacturing facility at Naidupeta in Andhra Pradesh, expanding its total solar cell manufacturing capacity to 10.6 GW. The company has also commenced trial runs at the new facility, which it describes as India’s largest solar cell manufacturing plant.
Spread across 101 acres, the facility has been developed with a capital expenditure of ₹3,293 crore. Designed for high-throughput manufacturing, the plant can produce approximately 88,000 solar cells per hour. It incorporates digital systems and artificial intelligence for predictive performance analysis, process control and precision manufacturing, alongside automated material handling, packing and packaging systems.
The facility uses N-type TOPCon G12R technology and has been designed to accommodate future upgrades to next-generation TOPCon+ technologies, including poly-finger metallisation and advanced edge-isolation processes. Following stabilisation and ramp-up, Premier Energies is targeting an average solar cell efficiency of approximately 25.8%.
The plant also incorporates a Zero Liquid Discharge system aimed at maximising water recycling and reuse. According to the company, the new capacity will strengthen its ability to serve growing demand for high-efficiency solar products in both domestic and international markets.
The commissioning is part of Premier Energies’ broader manufacturing expansion strategy, which includes planned backward integration into ingot and wafer production and further diversification across the clean-energy value chain.
