Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy (SWREL) has secured orders worth more than ₹985 crore, including taxes, across India and South Africa, strengthening its position in the utility-scale renewable energy and energy storage markets.
The company has received a 534.3 MWp solar project order in Rajasthan from a new Indian customer. The project, awarded by an independent power producer (IPP), covers the Balance of System (BOS) package.
In South Africa, SWREL has secured an order for two Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects with a combined capacity of 616 MWh. The order has been placed by a Middle East-based renewable energy developer that is an existing customer of the company. SWREL will execute the projects under a turnkey EPC wrap arrangement.
The South African order marks SWREL’s second-largest utility-scale BESS project to date, highlighting the company’s growing presence in the global energy storage market.
The Rajasthan solar project is expected to help avoid approximately 0.80 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions once commissioned, supporting India’s renewable energy and decarbonisation objectives.
Commenting on the order wins, Chandra Kishore Thakur, Global CEO of Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy, said the two orders demonstrate continued business momentum and customer confidence in the company’s project execution capabilities, domain expertise and workforce.
The combined orders further expand SWREL’s project portfolio across solar EPC and battery energy storage, while strengthening its presence in both the Indian and international renewable energy markets.
