Agastya Energy Industries Pvt Ltd has announced a proposed ₹7,800 crore expansion into integrated solar manufacturing, with plans to establish 12 GW of ingot and wafer manufacturing capacity at Orvakal, Andhra Pradesh.

The ambitious expansion is aimed at strengthening India’s domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem by integrating ingot, wafer, solar cell and module production within a connected manufacturing value chain.

The project is expected to increase domestic value addition, improve manufacturing efficiency and help reduce dependence on imported solar components.

According to the shared announcement, the company is building its clean-energy portfolio across solar manufacturing, EPC, operations and maintenance (O&M), and independent power generation, with a focus on TOPCon bifacial technology.

Key Highlights

  • 💰 ₹7,800 crore proposed investment
  • ☀️ 12 GW integrated ingot & wafer manufacturing capacity
  • 📍 Orvakal, Andhra Pradesh
  • 🏭 Integration across ingot, wafer, cell & module manufacturing
  • 👷 3,500+ expected jobs
  • ⚡ Focus on TOPCon bifacial technology
  • 🇮🇳 Strengthening India’s domestic solar manufacturing value chain

The proposed investment reflects the growing push toward end-to-end solar manufacturing in India, as the country seeks greater self-reliance across the photovoltaic value chain.

If implemented as planned, the project could add significant manufacturing capacity while supporting employment, domestic value addition and the broader expansion of India’s clean-energy industry.
