New Delhi, India: Brookfield-backed Evren has signed a 750 MW Renewable Energy Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NTPC Limited, marking a significant step in strengthening India’s transition towards reliable, firm and dispatchable clean energy.
The long-term agreement will support the development of a large-scale hybrid renewable energy project integrating solar, wind, and energy storage systems. The project is designed to deliver dependable renewable electricity while improving grid stability and enabling higher integration of clean energy into the national power system.
The partnership reflects the growing momentum of Firm & Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) projects, which are becoming increasingly important as India moves beyond adding renewable capacity to ensuring round-the-clock availability of clean power. Hybrid projects backed by energy storage are expected to play a crucial role in meeting rising electricity demand while reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
For Evren, the agreement represents another milestone in expanding its renewable energy portfolio, while NTPC continues to strengthen its clean energy procurement strategy in line with India’s ambitious decarbonization goals.
As India’s renewable energy market continues to mature, long-term PPAs such as this are expected to encourage greater investments in utility-scale solar and wind projects, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and transmission infrastructure, supporting the country’s target of achieving a cleaner and more resilient power sector.
