India: Exide Industries has commenced commercial deliveries of domestically manufactured lithium-ion cells, marking a major milestone in India’s advanced battery manufacturing journey. The company expects its Bengaluru lithium-ion cell plant to begin contributing to revenue as production ramps up for electric mobility and energy storage applications.
Exide is initially supplying LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) cells for electric vehicles, with plans to expand into stationary energy storage systems and introduce NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) cells in subsequent phases. The company continues to strengthen its manufacturing ecosystem through significant investments in its cell production facility.
The development reinforces India’s push toward indigenous battery manufacturing, reducing import dependence while supporting the country’s growing electric mobility and energy storage markets.
