Jain Irrigation Systems has secured a Letter of Empanelment from the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to supply and install 5,000 off-grid DC solar photovoltaic water pumping systems across Maharashtra.
Valued at ₹117.96 crore, including GST, the order has been awarded under the Maharashtra government’s Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana, an initiative aimed at promoting solar-powered irrigation solutions for farmers across the state.
Under the empanelment, Jain Irrigation will undertake the complete scope of work, including the design, manufacturing, supply, transportation, installation, testing and commissioning of solar pumping systems. The systems will be available in capacities of 3 HP, 5 HP and 7.5 HP to cater to different agricultural irrigation requirements.
The project is scheduled for completion within 60 days, according to the company.
The latest order strengthens Jain Irrigation’s ongoing association with MSEDCL in Maharashtra’s solar irrigation sector. The company began its work with the utility in 2015 under the Atal Solar Pump Project, through which it supplied and installed 5,039 solar pumps across the state. In 2019-20, the company completed another 1,539 pumps under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Pump Yojana.
Under the Magel Tyala Saur Krushi Pump Yojana, Jain Irrigation has so far completed the supply and installation of 12,457 solar pumps with a total project value of ₹307.62 crore, as stated by the company.
With the addition of 5,000 more solar pumps, the order further expands Jain Irrigation’s contribution to Maharashtra’s agricultural solarisation efforts. The project is expected to support farmers by enabling access to decentralised, solar-powered irrigation systems and reducing dependence on conventional electricity supply for agricultural pumping requirements.
