Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has commissioned two transmission projects aimed at strengthening India’s renewable energy evacuation infrastructure and supporting the integration of clean power into the national grid.

The first project, Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from Renewable Energy Zones (REZ) in Rajasthan (20 GW) under Phase-III Part-C1, has been commissioned to facilitate the transmission of renewable power generated in Rajasthan.

The second project, Transmission Scheme for Solar Energy Zone in Bidar (2,500 MW), Karnataka, was fully commissioned with effect from October 5, 2026, according to the company’s regulatory disclosure.

The Bidar transmission project was initially entrusted to POWERGRID Bidar Transmission Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of POWERGRID. The subsidiary was subsequently amalgamated with POWERGRID Khavda II-C Transmission Limited, effective March 1, 2026.

The commissioning of these projects is expected to improve renewable energy evacuation from Rajasthan and Karnataka, strengthen transmission infrastructure and support India’s expanding solar and renewable energy capacity.
