Salasar Techno Engineering Limited has secured a ₹134.51 crore order from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) for the execution of a 110 kV Air Insulated Substation (AIS) package in Puducherry. The project is being executed under POWERGRID’s consultancy services for the Electricity Department, Puducherry.
The project includes the design, engineering, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of two new 110/22 kV substations at Thirubuvanai and Thavalakuppam. It also covers the shifting and commissioning of transformers from the Thirubuvanai substation to Thethampakkam and Kalapet, along with augmentation works at the existing Villianur 110/22 kV substation.
As part of the project, Salasar will supply five 25 MVA, 110/22 kV outdoor power transformers, adding a combined 125 MVA of transformation capacity to the regional grid. The interconnection of substations is expected to strengthen grid reliability and resilience across Puducherry while supporting future electricity demand arising from urbanisation and economic development.
The project will also promote efficient utilisation of existing grid assets through the redeployment of released transformers. According to Salasar Techno Engineering Managing Director Shashank Agarwal, the project strengthens the company’s presence in Puducherry and its capabilities in high-voltage transmission and distribution infrastructure.
The order further reinforces Salasar Techno Engineering’s role in developing resilient power transmission and distribution infrastructure in India.
