New Delhi, India: The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) has announced the winners of its 1 GW Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE-RTC) Tranche-V auction, with tariffs discovered in the range of ₹5.25–₹5.26 per kWh.

The auction has awarded capacity to seven renewable energy developers, marking another important step in India’s shift towards firm, schedulable and reliable renewable power. The lowest tariff discovered in the auction was ₹5.25/kWh.

Auction Winners

Developer Awarded Capacity Tariff
Juniper Green Energy 230 MW ₹5.26/kWh
Rays Power Infra Limited 180 MW ₹5.25/kWh
Hexa Climate 150 MW ₹5.26/kWh
Resolven 150 MW ₹5.25/kWh
Hero Future Energies 120 MW ₹5.25/kWh
EMIF II 100 MW ₹5.25/kWh
Purvah Green 70 MW ₹5.25/kWh

The auction highlights the growing importance of hybrid renewable energy projects combining solar, wind and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Unlike conventional renewable projects that depend on variable generation, FDRE projects are designed to provide electricity according to scheduled requirements, helping address intermittency and improve grid reliability.

The development comes at a time when India’s renewable energy sector is increasingly moving beyond simply adding installed capacity. The focus is now shifting towards ensuring that clean electricity is available when the grid needs it, making energy storage, hybrid generation and grid flexibility increasingly important.

The 1 GW allocation is therefore expected to support further investments in BESS, hybrid renewable projects, transmission infrastructure and flexible power systems. It also demonstrates the growing role of competitive auctions in discovering tariffs for next-generation renewable energy projects.

As India’s electricity demand continues to rise, FDRE capacity could become an important component of the country’s clean energy mix, helping deliver more predictable renewable electricity while supporting the transition towards a flexible, reliable and low-carbon power grid.
