Tata Power and the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) have entered into a Master Research Agreement (MRA) to accelerate the development, scaling and commercialisation of next-generation clean energy technologies.
The partnership brings together IIT Bombay’s research and innovation capabilities with Tata Power’s industry expertise and experience in deploying energy solutions at scale. The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between advanced research and real-world commercial applications.
The partnership will explore several emerging technology areas, including smart grids, power electronics, energy storage, electric mobility, artificial intelligence for power systems, cybersecurity and digital grid technologies.
The two organisations will also examine opportunities in carbon capture and circular economy solutions, broadening the scope of collaboration beyond conventional renewable energy technologies.
The initiative is aimed at developing scalable, reliable and commercially viable solutions that can support India’s evolving energy ecosystem. It is expected to contribute to greater energy security, grid resilience and decarbonisation while strengthening industry-academia collaboration.
