Blueleaf Energy and Universal Peak have achieved financial close with United Overseas Bank (UOB) for a 100 MW/400 MWh utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Malaysia. UOB will serve as the project’s sole lender.

The project will be developed by BKHM BESS Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between Blueleaf Energy and Universal Peak, under a Build, Own and Operate (BOO) model. Construction is set to commence following financial close, with commissioning targeted for mid-2027.

Developed under Malaysia’s inaugural MyBeST programme, the project is expected to strengthen grid reliability and flexibility while enabling greater integration of renewable energy. The initiative also supports Malaysia’s broader energy transition and net-zero ambitions.
