NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NLC India Limited, has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) from Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) for developing a 275 MW/550 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Gujarat.
NIRL emerged as the successful bidder through GUVNL’s tariff-based competitive bidding process for 450 MW/900 MWh of standalone BESS capacity. The project was secured at a tariff of ₹2,31,989 per MW per month, with GUVNL set to enter into a 12-year Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA) with NIRL.
The project will provide on-demand charging and discharging services to GUVNL, supporting grid flexibility and the integration of renewable energy. It is also eligible for Viability Gap Funding of ₹18 lakh per MWh.
The project marks an important step in NLC India’s expansion into large-scale energy storage and strengthens its role in India’s evolving clean energy ecosystem.
