KEC International Commissions Four Power T&D Projects in Karnataka and Telangana

KEC International has successfully built and energised four critical Power Transmission and Distribution (T&D) projects across Karnataka and Telangana for Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Powergrid) and Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL).

The completed portfolio comprises three transmission lines and one substation, with transmission infrastructure reaching voltage levels of up to 765 kV. Collectively, the projects are designed to enable more than 3.5 GW of renewable energy evacuation capacity while strengthening the regional power transmission network.

The projects span key locations across Karnataka and Telangana, supporting renewable energy corridors in Koppal, Raichur and Bidar, as well as strengthening the Maheshwaram grid infrastructure.

KEC International said the projects will also support the rapidly expanding energy requirements of North Bengaluru, which has emerged as an important hub for industrial, aerospace, information technology and data-centre developments.

The development comes amid increasing demand for robust transmission infrastructure to integrate renewable generation into the national and regional power networks. High-voltage infrastructure, including 765 kV transmission systems, plays an important role in transferring large volumes of electricity efficiently across power-deficit and power-surplus regions.

By completing these four projects, KEC International is contributing to the expansion and strengthening of the transmission network across Karnataka and Telangana, while supporting the evacuation of renewable power and the region’s growing electricity demand.

The projects further highlight the importance of coordinated transmission infrastructure development alongside India’s expanding renewable energy capacity and industrial growth.
