U.S.-based Octillion Power Systems has commissioned its third battery manufacturing facility in India at Halol, Gujarat, adding more than 3 GWh of annual battery production capacity to its Indian operations.
Spread across more than 13,000 square metres, the new facility can manufacture over 48,000 battery systems annually at full capacity. The plant was commissioned in less than eight months, highlighting Octillion’s focus on rapidly scaling localized battery manufacturing.
With the addition of the Halol facility, Octillion’s three manufacturing plants in India are expected to achieve a combined annual production capacity of approximately 9 GWh, with the potential to manufacture more than 150,000 battery systems every year.
The company’s battery systems cater to multiple segments of the electric mobility market, including passenger vehicles, commercial trucks, light commercial vehicles and electric buses.
The expansion comes as India accelerates efforts to build a stronger domestic EV ecosystem and reduce dependence on imported battery technologies and components. Increasing local battery production is also expected to support the growth of electric vehicle manufacturing and strengthen the country’s broader clean mobility supply chain.
Octillion’s latest investment in Gujarat further highlights the growing importance of battery energy storage and localized EV battery manufacturing as India moves toward wider electric mobility adoption.
