The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with NIRL NCRTC Renewables Limited (NNRL) for a 110 MW captive solar power plant in Uttar Pradesh. The project is aimed at supplying renewable power to the Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat corridor.
The solar plant, being developed by NNRL, is expected to meet nearly 60% of the corridor’s electricity requirements. With an estimated investment of around ₹450 crore, the project is planned to be commissioned within the next 24 months.
The project is also expected to reduce NCRTC’s annual electricity expenditure by around 25% and help avoid approximately 1.77 lakh tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
The initiative marks a significant step towards integrating renewable energy into mass transit infrastructure and advancing cleaner, more energy-efficient mobility in the National Capital Region.
