JSW Energy has successfully completed the acquisition of Maruti Clean Coal and Power Limited (MCCPL) for an enterprise value of ₹1,410 crore, further strengthening its power generation portfolio with the addition of a 300 MW operational thermal power plant in Korba, Chhattisgarh.
The acquisition adds an immediately operational and cash-generating asset to JSW Energy’s portfolio, supported by long-term contracted revenues and fuel security. The MCCPL plant has a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for approximately 195 MW with Rajasthan DISCOMs, with coal supply supported through SECL linkage under the SHAKTI scheme.
Following the completion of the transaction, JSW Energy’s installed generation capacity has increased to 14,835 MW, reinforcing its position as one of India’s leading integrated power companies.
The acquisition also strengthens the company’s portfolio of contracted and operational generation assets while providing greater visibility on long-term power revenues. The plant’s existing fuel linkage further supports operational stability and reduces exposure to fuel supply uncertainties.
Beyond its current installed capacity, JSW Energy has built a significant development pipeline, with 32.4 GW of locked-in generation capacity and 29.6 GWh of energy storage capacity.
The company is targeting 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030, reflecting its strategy of combining conventional generation assets with large-scale renewable energy and storage capabilities.
The MCCPL acquisition therefore represents another step in JSW Energy’s broader strategy to expand its generation portfolio while strengthening its position across India’s evolving power and energy storage landscape.
