GK Energy Limited has secured a Letter of Empanelment worth approximately ₹454.50 crore from a state government-owned power distribution utility for 100 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar projects across 1,00,000 households. The development, announced on August 26, 2026, will involve installing a 1 kW rooftop solar photovoltaic system at each household, creating a large-scale residential solar deployment programme.
Under the empanelment, GK Energy will execute 1,00,000 individual rooftop solar projects, with the combined capacity reaching 100 MW. The disclosed contract rate is ₹45,450 per kW, inclusive of GST. The scope covers design, engineering, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the systems, along with comprehensive operations and maintenance services for five years.
The projects will be implemented as distributed, grid-connected solar installations at residential premises rather than as a single utility-scale plant. Each project will have a 1 kW capacity. According to the disclosed terms, individual projects are required to be completed within 60 days from the issuance of the respective work orders, placing emphasis on standardised deployment and execution across a large number of households.
The ₹454.50 crore contract value includes GST, while the per-kilowatt execution rate has been fixed at ₹45,450. GK Energy has also stated that its cumulative allocations and empanelments since April 1, 2026 have crossed ₹1,092 crore, highlighting the pace of new business secured by the company during the current financial year.
GK Energy will undertake the complete EPC cycle, including system design, equipment supply, installation, testing and commissioning. The five-year O&M commitment extends the company’s involvement beyond installation and is intended to support the continued operation of the distributed rooftop solar systems.
The project adds significant capacity to India’s residential solar ecosystem and strengthens the role of rooftop solar in the country’s renewable-energy expansion. Deploying 100 MW across 1,00,000 homes can increase household-level access to solar power while expanding decentralised clean-energy generation connected to the electricity distribution network. The scale of the programme also reflects continuing demand for distributed solar solutions across the Indian renewable-energy market.
Pune-based GK Energy operates in the renewable-energy EPC segment, with experience in decentralised solar projects and solar-powered agricultural pumping systems. The company has also been expanding its presence in rooftop solar and other distributed renewable-energy applications.
For India’s energy transition, large residential rooftop programmes can complement utility-scale renewable projects by bringing generation closer to consumers. For GK Energy, the new empanelment provides a sizeable execution pipeline and strengthens its position in the rooftop solar EPC market. Successful delivery of the programme will depend on the company’s ability to coordinate installations across 1,00,000 households within the stipulated project timelines.
