HRTC to Invest ₹122 Crore in EV Charging Infrastructure Across Himachal Pradesh

The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) is strengthening electric mobility infrastructure across the state with an investment of ₹122 crore.

Key Highlights

  • 99 EV charging points to be established at 80 locations across Himachal Pradesh.
  • Charging stations are being developed at HRTC bus stands and workshops.
  • 34 locations already have charging stations installed.
  • Work at 21 more locations is expected to be completed within the next month, while work continues at the remaining 25 locations.
  • The network will feature 180 kW fast CCS-2 chargers.
  • HRTC currently operates 297 electric buses across short- and long-distance routes.
  • Electric buses are helping HRTC save approximately ₹15–16 per km in diesel expenditure.
  • An electric bus is operating on the approximately 270-km Haroli–Chandigarh route on a single charge

The initiative is expected to strengthen Himachal Pradesh’s clean public transport ecosystem while supporting the phased expansion of HRTC’s electric bus fleet.
