REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Ltd., has handed over Luhri Power Transmission Limited, the project-specific Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), to M/s Terralight Solar Energy Tinwari Private Limited, the successful bidder for the transmission project.
The SPV transfer was completed on August 21, 2026, marking the next stage in the implementation of the transmission infrastructure project designed for the evacuation of power from the Sunni Dam Hydro Electric Project (SDHEP) and Luhri Stage-I Hydro Electric Project (LHEP-I).
The project will be developed under the Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model and is aimed at establishing the required transmission infrastructure to connect the upcoming hydroelectric generation projects with the wider power grid.
The handover was carried out by Rajkumar Sonkar, HoD (CS), RECPDCL, to Nitin Mahajan, General Manager (Bidding), Terralight Solar Energy Tinwari Private Limited, in the presence of Ratnesh Kumar, GM (Engineering), RECPDCL, along with senior officials from RECPDCL, Terralight Solar Energy Tinwari Private Limited and the Central Transmission Utility of India Limited.
The transmission project broadly includes the establishment of a 400/220 kV GIS Nange Pooling Station in Himachal Pradesh, along with a 400 kV Nange Pooling Station to Koldam double-circuit transmission line spanning approximately 50 km and other associated infrastructure works.
The project has an estimated cost of ₹839.55 crore and is scheduled for commissioning by October 15, 2029, in alignment with the commissioning schedule of the Sunni Dam and Luhri Stage-I hydroelectric projects.
The development of this transmission system is expected to strengthen power evacuation infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh and support the efficient integration of hydroelectric generation into India’s transmission network. As renewable and clean energy capacity continues to expand, timely development of transmission infrastructure remains crucial to ensuring reliable power evacuation and grid connectivity.
